An innovative approach to depression, trauma, and transformation

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy in Redwood City

If talk therapy has helped but hasn’t felt like quite enough, KAP might be a new way forward.

You may have done the work. Talked it through. Tried different modalities. And still, something feels stuck. Maybe you feel emotionally flat or disconnected, like you’re going through the motions. Maybe the same thoughts or patterns keep cycling through, no matter how much insight you gain. Or maybe you’re longing for something more meaningful—something that touches a deeper layer of healing.

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) offers a different kind of support. A way to access parts of yourself that feel distant or buried. A space where your body, brain, and spirit can begin to shift together.

Therapy that reaches where words can't

KAP combines the therapeutic use of ketamine with psychotherapy to help loosen entrenched patterns, open up emotional processing, and support healing from the inside out. Sessions are carefully structured and include preparation, in-person sublingual ketamine administration, and post-session integration. KAP offers a unique opportunity to explore your inner world from a different vantage point, and to integrate that experience into lasting change.

While ketamine is not a classic psychedelic, many people report experiences that feel deeply spiritual, symbolic, or soul-level. These altered states of consciousness can be powerful allies in the therapeutic process—particularly for those navigating depression, trauma, or existential distress.

Ketamine is currently the only legally prescribable psychedelic medicine in California and can be used safely in collaboration with a trained mental health provider. If you are interested in working with other medicines, I can discuss with you the legal options (i.e., travel to locations where it is legal, clinical trials) and support you in the very important preparation and integration work for these experiences.

KAP is most powerful when held within a therapeutic relationship, whether short or long-term. I provide both preparation and integration as part of every KAP arc, and am happy to discuss what level of ongoing support would serve your process.

What is Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy?

Whether you’re exploring ADHD, autism, or simply a more authentic connection to who you are, KAP can support deeper insight and self-acceptance. This work creates space to unmask, challenge internalized shame, and relate to yourself with greater compassion. Rather than focusing on what’s “wrong,” we center what’s true—and help you reconnect with the parts of you that have been overlooked or misunderstood. It’s about honoring your unique wiring, softening internalized shame, and making room for a selfhood that’s finally allowed to breathe.

Neurodivergence and Deeper Self Understanding

Whether you’re early in your recovery journey or navigating long-term sobriety or harm reduction, KAP can offer a supportive space for healing. It helps loosen the grip of shame, address underlying trauma, and reconnect you to a deeper sense of purpose. Many clients find it easier to access self-compassion and stay grounded in their values through this work. Together, we’ll honor your path, meet the parts of you that carried the pain, and support transformation that holds both clarity and compassion.

Recovery from Addiction

Living with chronic shame or anxiety often means navigating an inner world that feels punishing and relentless. KAP can help soften these inner dynamics, offering access to compassion and spaciousness. Rather than battling with your thoughts, you may begin to relate to them differently, recognizing their origins and reclaiming your voice. This work invites a kinder, more grounded relationship with yourself.

Shame, Anxiety, & Inner Critic

For some, the hardest part isn’t anxiety or pain—it’s the absence of feeling altogether. Emotional flatness or numbness can make it hard to connect to yourself, your relationships, or what matters most. Ketamine can offer a gentle reawakening of the emotional landscape, helping you feel more present, more porous, more here. Over time, you may begin to notice small moments of joy, curiosity, or connection returning.

Emotional Disconnection & Numbness

Unresolved trauma can live in the body for years, shaping how you think, feel, and respond to the world around you. KAP offers a gentle way to approach traumatic material—without forcing a retelling or retraumatizing your system. The altered state ketamine facilitates can help shift protective patterns and make space for deeper integration. With the right support, your nervous system can begin to feel safe again.

Trauma and PTSD

When traditional therapy or medication hasn’t brought relief, depression can begin to feel like a lifelong sentence. Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy in Redwood City offers a new path—one that supports neuroplasticity and opens emotional channels that may feel otherwise inaccessible. Many clients describe a softening of hopelessness and a reconnection with vitality. This process doesn’t bypass the pain, but creates space for real, embodied healing to begin.

The medicine may open a door, but integration is where the transformation deepens. In our follow-up sessions, we reflect on what emerged and explore how to bring those insights into your daily life. Each person’s integration path is unique. Yours might include journaling, music, time in nature, art, behavioral goals, spiritual intentions, or whatever you can dream up. I also offer support for those integrating psychedelic experiences from outside a formal therapeutic context.

Making Meaning

03.

Once we begin the ketamine sessions, you’ll enter a carefully held space for exploration. Sessions are typically about 3 hours and include intention setting, sublingual ketamine administration, and an inward journey supported by curated music and eyeshades. I remain present throughout to offer attuned support and create space for whatever arises—emotionally, somatically, or symbolically.

Journeying Inward

02.

Before we begin any ketamine sessions, we take time to build a solid foundation. These early sessions help us build trust, explore your goals, and ensure KAP is the right fit for your needs. We’ll walk through your history, discuss the potential risks and benefits, and orient you to what the process will look and feel like—so you feel informed, supported, and resourced from the start.

Laying the Groundwork

HOW KETAMINE ASSISTED THERAPY WORKS

Ketamine interacts with NMDA receptors in the brain and helps increase glutamate, a neurotransmitter associated with learning and memory. This cascade can stimulate neuroplasticity—your brain’s ability to form new connections—which is why ketamine may help interrupt long-standing thought loops tied to depression, anxiety, or trauma. In Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, this neurobiological shift is paired with emotional processing and integration, which can deepen and extend the healing effect.

Yes, when administered in a controlled setting with professional oversight, ketamine has a strong safety profile. I work closely with a licensed prescriber who evaluates your health history and monitors your dosing. In therapy sessions, you are never alone—I remain present throughout the entire process to support your comfort, emotional safety, and physical well-being.

The number of sessions varies based on your goals and how your system responds to the work. Many clients begin with a series of 6–8 medicine sessions, spaced weekly or biweekly, with preparation and integration sessions in between. After that, we reassess together and co-create a rhythm that feels supportive for you.

During or shortly after a ketamine session, some people may experience dizziness, mild nausea, fatigue, or emotional sensitivity. These effects are typically short-lived. The experience can also bring up intense feelings or imagery, which is why integration support is such an important part of the KAP process. I take your physical and emotional wellbeing seriously and will move at a pace that honors your system.

Not necessarily. While ketamine is often used to support people with depression, PTSD, or anxiety, a formal diagnosis isn’t required to begin KAP. What matters most is that the treatment aligns with your needs, goals, and readiness. We’ll explore all of that in our initial consultation and preparation work.

You’ll remain conscious during the entire ketamine experience. While you may enter altered states of awareness, you’ll still be awake and able to communicate. Some people describe the experience as dreamlike, spiritual, or emotionally spacious. You may feel detached from your usual thoughts and more open to new insights or sensations.

I bring over two decades of clinical experience, a trauma-informed lens, and deep respect for the ethical use of psychedelics. My approach to Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy is relational, compassionate, and paced to meet you where you are. This is not about quick fixes or spiritual bypass—it’s a grounded process that honors your story, your readiness, and your capacity to heal. This work isn’t about transcending your life—it’s about becoming more intimate with it, and learning to hold what arises with both clarity and care.
